HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

This is it! Can you believe it? One more winner and it's  done... until next year. Provided that I don't get the psychiatric help I need.

Day 12 belongs to Blu! Congrats and look for an email from me.

The Grand Finale: If you liked something from one of previous days, chances are you're going to like something today!

3 Bottle-cap pincushions, The Bats, Mis-spelled & Booooo with embellished pins.

Velvet Panne pumpkin with - more pins! and BBD's Hallowe'en stocking, stitched in the primitive (called for DMC) color way.

Black & purple scissor crypt with scissors & bat magnet pinkeep.

"Spells" black silk on black ribbon bookmark with purple velvet panne book cover. Which is wrapped around a smoking hot cracklicious copy of Dark Lover, so think of it as more of a pot holder than a book cover.

The ubiquitous Vamp Lips lapel pin & fridge magnets.

And last but not least! One super secret never seen on the blog before item for the Lucky 13th winner!

Post once for one entry, post again if you mentioned me in your blog, and gals hosting the button on their blog - you only need to post a 3rd time if today is your first day hosting. And yes my faithful, tenacious, never say die, 3x per dayers... you will get you 13 entries today!

A huge thank you to all for making this so much fun. I've loved all your comments, emails  & all the new blogs I've found to read. Good luck!

12th Day of Halloween

Friday, October 30th, 2009

Happy Halloween Eve! Thank  you all very much for your continued enthusiasm. :D

Friday's a work day, 11's winner will go up this afternoon.

Edited to add: Sharon you won! Congrats and I've emailed you.

Cindy emailed me today to let me know her package arrived. Remember these are not going to be delivered in order, some shipped Priority and some have oceans to cross.

I have a fondness for garish color combinations, especially at Halloween. I took BBD's little Hallowe'en stocking and went crazy. And me being me; the royal purple Velvet Panne came home with me the day I first saw it (told you, I bought yardage!). Who would make a purple pumpkin? I would. And what does a purple pumpkin need? Why an orange glitter leaf of course. Go big or go home is a core belief of mine. ;)

Day 12's teaser:

Didn't I just say yesterday something about loving bats? lol

I have also made an executive decision. Because Halloween is tomorrow and since it will be the Grande Finale Prize I am going to post a picture of everything that is going to be in the winner's package. Except! - one item. That will be a 100% surprise and will not be pictured on the blog until the winner receives her package.

11th Day of Halloween

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

We're almost there! Halloween is just around the corner. :D

Day 10.... Congrats Patti! I'll drop you an email soon. (btw 10's hint was Witch Hazel of Bugs Bunny fame, one of the greats IMHO)

Debbie let me know that her package arrived so I can blog it in detail now.

The scissor crypt & the usual suspects. (I love bats.)

After painting I padded the inside top & bottom with my favorite black Velvet Panne. The Boo! ribbon was stitched down to the bottom padding before it was glued in place. On the top is a bit of sheet magnet that I cut into a bat shape and glued down. A touch fussy with the glueing (stretching the fabric over the padding is the tricky part) but taken a step at a time very doable. :D

And today's teaser:

Thank you for all the compliments on the biscornu & fob. And I can't recall who asked (and I'm too lazy to look right now) but my cording is made with the Krenik Twisted Cord maker. Which is probably the best $12 I spent while I was at Celebrations in Louisville last October.

10th Day of Halloween

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

Remember today I'm at work, Day 9's winner will go up this afternoon.

Edited to add: Winner of Day 9 is Nita! Congrats and I'll be emailing you.

I do have Halloween things to share! I got word that my HOE did make to it's new home in the Netherlands. Took about a week longer than it should have, but at this point I'm just grateful it made it there. My receivie was Ina (no blog) and the cute bug tackled me when I was putting her exchange together.

Biscornu by Barbara Ana stitched as charted (oh wait! I changed the 3371 to 310) on 28ct. Lambswool Jobelan & scissor fob by Cat's Whiskers. For the fob I used the same colors that were used in the biscornu to make them more of a set.

Love the candy corn buttons I found, and instead of using Ina's initals for the fob I used her name since it was 3 letters. Both Boo! & Ina are stitched over one. I also made the cording to match.

My first beaded edges!

And the whole package:

And of course I included a few crystal studded pins.

And after a trip through the Bermuda Triangle/Time Warp/Black Hole that exsists in the USPS somewhere over the western US I received my Fair & Square Halloween squares.

Julianne stitched these PS squares for me (from the Boo To You leaflet - which I love, I bought it!). Isn't the house darling? Now the ribbon was my own, I included it in the shot so you can see how perfect it is for the house. I see a pinkeep in my future. :D And the above remark about the PO... this is far from the first time something from CA has taken an insane about of time to get to me. Julianne mailed first class on the 13th. It didn't arrive until the 26th. I've had b-day cards from CA take 2 weeks. There is something going on out there that needs to be fixed, because TX to CA? 3 days or so...

Now what you all come here for! Day 10 Teaser:

9th Day of Halloween

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

Ya'll are getting too smart for me. Guessing what the prize is! I need to take sneakier pictures. :p

Said prize goes to Annette! Congrats & you'll have an email from me shortly.

The first 3 gals have received their prizes so I'm going to blog them now.

Day 1:

I like making bottle-cap pincushions. They are easy and you can really let your creativity take you away. Yes, you can. No, I do not believe you are not a creative person. Get yourself a copy of Pretty Little Pincushions, Google "bottle-cap pincushion" and make sure you send me the links to what you create. I used super dark purple felt for the cushion parts and white felt die cut (Sizzix paddle punch), and then embroidered Booooooo with glow in the dark Krenik braid. Oh and I stitched a little face with black dmc. The pins are silk pins with Swarovski crystals, except for that tallest pin, that is a pin already topped with a ghost, I of course added a crystal - that's how I roll. I about peed myself when I found those. I always say when people design things just for you, you should buy them. I bought Michaels out of all they had on the shelf.  Now that lapel pin, I saw it on line and said to myself "Self, $7? You can do that for about 15 cents & an afternoon." They take me about 1/2 hour to make and actually cost closer to 30 cents because I Had To add a crystal. And then magnets. Who doesn't like fridge magnets? If you don't, please share so we can use it at your commitment hearing for the funny house.  ;)

Day 2:

Same ol' junk. Vampire lips, magnets, pins and ah! New stuff. I'm pretty sure I told you that I bought BBD's Halloween Stockings, but I did refuse to buy the pricey threads & fabrics. That's what pieces of funky yellow fabric from Silkweaver that you don't know to do with are for. And Tacky Velvet Panne, I've got yards of it, YARDS. You are looking at the second pumpkin (filled with crushed walnut shells)  I made. Apparently circles are a skill I had to practice. The first one... it's kinda oval. Go ahead laugh, I did. I would also like to point out that orange beads are as rare as hen's teeth in October. Oh, this stocking is "Eye of Newt", don't know if I have a picture of it from the back, but it is that screaming loud orange with black dot that I used to back my screamingly loud Halloween quilt from last year. Go me, using scraps!

Day 3:

I really hope I'm not spoiling this for anyone, but all the winners are getting Vamp Lips & magnets. lol This guy, he kills me. Franken-bun, I *heart* this little guy. First he's free, wanna make your own? Download! I traced him up and then crayon tinted him (first time, didn't turn out too badly I think) and used stem & backstitches to outline him. But it's the trim, acid green with black... what would you call it? Plastic embellishment tackification? As if acid green marabou feathers are tacky on their own. Anyway it's a Simplicity trim gleefully hoarded at Joann's. And a pencil. :D

And Day 9's Teaser:

That's what you get for being good at guessing; something out of left field. :p
