Halloween is finally over

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

I ended up sending two packages to Canada & two to Australia. The first of each made good time. But the second two... those took their sweet time.

Day 12

This was probably one of the most simple of them all. Just a little embroidered pin keep. Easy peasy, but I do admit to loving the crap out of that bat pin. The crystal on it is a deep blood red; trust me it looks great in person.

And the surprise that went into the Halloween Grande finale with all the other stuff was...

Can't remember the name. lol But it was from this year's JCS Halloween issue (Just Nan) and a whole bunch of other people people stitched it too, that's where I ripped off the fob idea from.

The scissors are light weight Ginghers, but I bought them to go with it becaue they were black. I did a black beaded edge finish for the edge. Made the cording to match. And the fabric is a leftover from my Silkweaver Solo that I stitched Mira's Halloween Fairy on last year. I think the pictures it's reading very blue, but it's more purple than blue, but both colors are mottled together. Oh and I filled it with walnut shells which IMHO are perfect for fobs because they give just enough weight.

One last thank you to everyone who stopped by to enter & comment on the 13 Days Giveaway. And a special thank you to all the countries' mail systems that didn't lose a single package!

Arrrrr ‘Tis Sunday

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

And my Steelers don't play until tomorrow night. I don't care that they insist on sticking the Texans and Cowboys under my nose every Sunday; I'm not watching them. Unless it looks like the Cowboys will lose - at that point I'm more than willing to watch. Why yes I am full up on the Cowboy hate. lol

Yesterday because I was at a stopping point on the Sampler Quilt (wrong book) I pulled out the Pirate Quilt that I was supposed to give to Win for his birthday. Last April. ugh - bad mom Well I finished the cutting and assembled the 6 blocks that make up the top.

Woot! Don't want to jinx it, but it's going very well so far.  I pieced all the blocks last night and this morning sewed them all together.  Up next are the borders, but they require a little bit of piecing and nearly to the second that I finished sewing the blocks this morning HoHRH commenced yelling for me.  I probably won't work on the quilt again until Monday.

Btw, it's throw size. 42 x 57 ish when finished.

Patti dropped me a line a couple of days ago to let me know her package had also survived international shipping. Pop on over to her blog to see more photography that's better than mine. ;) I really do need to look into a photography class...

My reward

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

I *had to* hit the LNS today to pick up some necessary beads and as usual a few other things followed me home.

Jenny Bean!!!!!!!!!!!! No threads, while I love the color names and like the colors themselves; I hate limited edition thread packs and by buying one I would be rewarding said limited edition. I'll be using my own picks for this little lady. Maybe I can make this work from Dinky Dyes oops packs... 3 in 1 little Just Nan's from the clearance 3 bucks baby! But an even better deal on that Little House, I don't like the design at all but it comes with 5 full size Crescent Colors for $6 (clearance FTW!). Two skeins of Old Blue Paint, I am serious about stitching Wedding Row again for me & the dh. Two ornie size cuts of PTP Relic, again very cheap because they are small cuts. And not on the cheap those lovely black french mourning pins. I can't wait to see how these look with crystals...

Oh and the beads I went there for:

Damn-it blurry...

That's a little better, I stitched Waiting For The Ships down there in the corner. My needle, it smokes. ;) This is Rachel's MiraRR.

And speaking of better pictures, Sharon let me know her giveaway arrived. Pop on over to her place to see a better picture than what I took.

Wrapping up

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

Looks like I'll spend the first bit of November wrapping up the 13 Days. Annette & Gill both have let me know their packages arrived.

I really like this one and I'll tell you why. (as if I ever pass up the chance to ramble on) In school when all the other kids were covering their books with paper bags my Mom covered mine with fabric. This is a very old fashioned thing from what I understand and I was the only kid whose books were like that, but I loved it. I especially remember 1984, the year not the book. With Olympic fever that year there was plenty of cheap (did I mention Mom made me pick from the $1 per yard fabrics? & they had to be cottons) sports theme fabric. I can still see the red, white & blue sport prints I picked out that year. I'll have to ask Mom if she still has any of it still laying around. And her method of covering was a bit more ghetto than I used on Annette's cover. Mom ironed one big piece, folded the edges so no raw was showing and whipped stitched the four edges where the outside and inside met to form the pocket for the book's covers. Annette got 3 cut, interfaced, and machine sewn pieces to make her cover. :D The idea for the bookmark was ripped off from The Needleprint blog.  And the lettering came from Stacy Nash's Cast Your Spells.

Awww... now this one is cute. Let me get some more pictures up.

Little froggie, it's hard to make a frog look bemused.

Get it? Mis-spelled. The spell went wrong, the witch turned herself into a frog... I know, I'm not half as clever as I think I am. And before the grammer Nazi show up, the spelling of "mis-spelled" is deliberate.

And the little stars from the spell. All of the little bits are sewn on, not glued. In fact the whole thing is sewn, there isn't a bit of glue on any of the bottle-cap pincushions.  And bonus, these pictures show the crystal pins fairly well.

I'm already on to the next thing, I'm hoping to wrap up all the cross stitching on my current MiraRR tonight, buy the beads I need for it tomorrow, & get it in the mail Wednesday. I also washed and ironed all my fabric for my next quilt tonight and maybe I can start it maybe? tomorrow.

Happy Novemeber

Halloween is all over; I hope no one got sick off all the candy or has to de-toliet paper a tree this morning. :D

A quick word about how the winners were chosen. I had a big ol' spread sheet with formulas and everything (thanks Andy!). Depending on how many times you entered and how many times the people above you entered determined the number you were. I only had one day when I had to re-draw because someone's number came up twice. I averaged around 80 enteries per day with the high being 126 & yesterday was 104. The winning numbers were chosen by the Random Number Generator and were (just for curosity's sake) 67, 62, 34, 31, 59, 26, 23, 3, 68, 69, 75, 8 & 97.

And 97 brings us to yesterday's winner. Congrats Stacey! Expect an email from me.

Again, I want to say THANK YOU to everyone who entered. Everyone who came by everyday and posted. Everyone who took the extra time to post to their blog about my giveaway. Thank you all very much.
